Indoor drone tours — what makes this different
Most drone work in southern Illinois stops at the front door. Exterior aerials are flown with a standard camera drone at altitude, and that is the whole service.
An indoor drone tour is a different discipline. It uses a small FPV (first person view) drone flown manually through the inside of a building — through doorways, down hallways, around furniture and fixtures — in one continuous unbroken take. There is no GPS indoors to hold the aircraft steady, so the pilot flies entirely on manual sticks with inches of clearance. It is a separate skill set from exterior aerial photography, and it takes different equipment.
MG Drone Tours has filmed indoor drone tours across southern and central Illinois since October 2022 — homes, a grocery store, a doggie daycare, farm buildings and auction properties. That work is published in full on this site; every tour below links to the finished video.
One continuous take, inside and out
Most tours are flown in a single unbroken shot. On a recent estate shoot the flight started outside the front door, flew through the entire house including the upstairs, went back outside through a second-story window, followed a path down into the woods, returned to the property and flew directly to two barns — into each one and back out again — before finishing with a larger drone for smooth establishing footage over the whole estate.
That is one take. No cuts, no stitching between clips, no separate interior photographer. The viewer never loses their bearings, because the camera never stops moving through real space — which is exactly why a walkthrough like this sells a property better than a gallery of stills.

Common questions
Do you fly drones inside buildings in Mount Vernon?
Yes. Indoor FPV drone tours are our specialty, and they are what most drone operators in this area do not offer. We have filmed indoor tours since October 2022, including Jagger’s Doggie Daycare in Mount Vernon.
Do you film the whole property in one take?
Most of the time, yes. A recent estate tour ran from the front door, through the house and upstairs, out through a second-story window, down a path into the woods, then directly into and back out of two barns — all in one continuous shot, finishing with a larger drone for smooth footage over the whole property.
How far is Mount Vernon from your base?
23 miles. MG Drone Tours is based in Johnsonville, Illinois, so Mount Vernon is a short drive and there is no long-distance travel charge.
Are you FAA certified and insured?
Yes. Derrick Martin holds an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, and MG Drone Tours carries $5 million in liability insurance. A certificate of insurance can be provided for commercial properties that require one.
How long does filming take, and when do I get the video?
A residential shoot takes 30 minutes to an hour on site. Finished, edited video is delivered within two days.
Can you film an occupied home or an operating business?
Yes. Indoor tours are flown around people, pets and normal operations — Jagger’s Doggie Daycare was filmed with dogs and staff in the building.
